This year 32 teams (500 future hockey stars) took part in the 3rd annual Eric Gutknecht Memorial Novice Hockey Tournament at the North Grenville Municipal Complex on March 15th to March 17th. Novice C winners were A side Kemptville C2 over Casselman, B side winners, North Dundas over Stittsville and C side winners Sudbury over Kanata. In the Novice B Division, the winners included A side, Embrum over Kemptville, B side Charlan over North Dundas and the C side saw Nepean over West Carleton.
Funds were raised through the raffle of a Daniel Alfredsson signed retro jersey and 50-50 draws.

The Eric Gutknecht Memorial Bursary is proud to be part of the Kemptville District Minor Novice Hockey Tournament each year. Started in 2011 the 32 team tournament takes to the ice at the Kemptville Municipal Centre at the end of March break (this year March 16th, 17th, and 18th.) This year the tournament was proudly sponsored by All State Insurance and Gabriel's Pizza and saw many raffle tables, 50-50 draws and the bursary itself, sold cook books, jams & jellies and held a draw for a signed Heritage Jason Spezza jersey, two limited edition Jason Spezza Hockey cards and a official NHL ALL STAR cap. The proud winner of this draw was Nicolas Campeau from Kemptville. The Adam Harlow Fellowship Fund also sold pancake breakfasts both Saturday and Sunday to raise funds for underprivileged children unable to pay for hockey registration.
This year and last year saw six Kemptville teams participate, three in each the B and C level. T-shirts were handed out to every participant; medals for all the championship teams; hockey cards were presented to each player by Eric's dad. This years winners in the C Division included Kemptville Panthers 3 (C) Rockland Nats (B)and Alexander Glens (A). In the B Division the winners included the Stittsville Ice Dogs (C), North Dundas Demons (B), and the Kemptville Panthers 2 (A).

The Eric Gutknecht Memorial Hockey Tournament date has changed from a spring tournament to a fall tournament. This Year 2017 saw two tournaments played. The first held March 20th to 22nd and then again November 3rd to 5th, (which will be when the tournament will be held going forward)

This year's 32 team tournament was again a resounding success. Sponsored in part by All Signs, Gabriel's Pizza and Game Breakers, close to 500 hockey players were each presented with a Stanley Cup T-Shirt, Stanley Cup magnets, hockey cards and other goodies. There is no better hockey then kids simply playing for the love of hockey with no politics nor pressure. The hockey tables in the arena staging area was a great hit. Hats off to all the organizers, volunteers, players, parents, referees for an action packed, fun and exciting week end!

Twenty-eight teams from Eastern Ontario trecked into the friendly confines of North Grenville on the weekend of March 20th to 22nd, to take part in the 5th Annual Eric Gutknecht Memorial Novice Hockey tournament. All sorts of prizes and gifts were award to over 400 players, including seven teams from North Grenville.
